Wwoof in Okinawa -sea salt making & guesthouse

My first wwoofing in Okinawa, Japan was at this salt making studio cum guesthouse in Bise.
It's very near to Churaumi Aquarium.

Sea salt making was indeed an interesting work to me as I've never had a chance to witness the process as near as this.

Other than that, the husband and wife owners also run a guesthouse.

Their buildings are mostly in container style, such as the kitchen, the dining room and an extra storeroom. One of the cons are when it's raining, you need to have umbrella or run to reach the rooms.

Their cats, Cha Cha and Navy.

The room to evaporate sea water to extract sea salt, which the process may take up to 2-3 days before sending to the drying room.

We only work from 9am to 3pm. So the rest of the hours I would sometimes take a walk around Bise and sea side.

Shisa, the Guardian Lions of Okinawa. Most people placed them in pair at the entrance.

The  sea water is typically clean and clear in Okinawa, but the beaches are not as nice as Malaysia ones.

I spent more than a month with this first wwoof host in Okinawa.
The work loads were not too heavy, just that it's summer so it was very stuffy when we're doing housekeeping work in the guestrooms.
We're quite free to go anywhere during our leisure time, and the hosts were friendly and willing to send us around in their car to our destination. I appreciate for their kindness.

ありがとう ございました!
