A walk in Chiang Mai University
CMU is indeed a beautiful campus.
I'm not talking about the great buildings, but it's the nature that does the wonder.
We also visited Faculty Of Fine Arts.
Nothing much to visit as there's no ongoing exhibition here, but we walked into their art studio compound.
And we went to Faculty of Agriculture as well.
It's opposite to Fine Art's.
So coincidentally a lecturer was examining the works of his students.
We talked a bit while admiring the collection of insects.

ReplyDeleteYou seems to love arts. There are 2 info I would give you. First is the NAP. I don't know if you have ever heard about it. It's Nimmanhaemin Art & Design Promenade which hold yearly. Mostly on the first week of Dec. Also there is an artist village called "Baan Khang Wat" and their "Sawasdee Craft" festival which you might like. Just search for them on the net.
Another is a little info very few outside TH know. There is a yearly tradition for Chiang Mai University students esp. freshmen which was practiced since it was established in 1964. On any specific day, students will walk 14 kms (including the path in the campus) up the road to Doi Suthep to pay respect for the temple up there. There's only one rule: leave no man behind. If you friend is tired, you have to help. If your friend is disabled person, you have to push his/her wheel chair. If you friend cannot walk, you have to carry him/her.
The ceremony gain more and more attention countywide each year. Below are some clips/news from the past 2 years trekking. Also a blog by a tourist.

If you want to joy, you can do as an onlooker. Problem is that they usually announce only 1 months before the trekking, which usually be on the second week of September. If you are free on that time, please take my comment as an invitation.
TH is not different from every places. We are just a small country which have good and bad things, also good and bad people. Hope you see the first ones wherever you go. But please don't expect much from us. You know the level of disappointment depends on the level of expectation.

DeleteWell, it's indeed a beautiful campus as the nature and parks are well kept.
I don't always go to Thailand, but I do enjoy Chiangmai a lot! I love the artistic feel, the food ( a lot of vegetarian choices!) The weather seems like getting hotter nowadays, comparing to the time I went 11 years ago where we still have to wear thick clothes to withstand the cold.
I will visit Chiangmai again in the future, and I shall take a look at the events you mentioned. Thanks!
